I was born at 167 Gatley Road and my family left the village in 1933.

In April 1999. I wrote a booklet called " GATLEY-END OF THE LINE" which has many items and numerous photographs, related to my childhood during my eight years attending Mrs Higsons' "Shortacre High School", whilst living in different houses in Gatley.

We left Gatley after living in the Co-op Store near the Clock Tower and moved to Cheadle. I sent copies to the Stockport Central Libraries (Mr David Reid, Local Heritage Librarian), the Family History Society Northwich, Alderly Edge Records Office and also to the Gatley & Cheadle Library. I would be pleased to receive any letters or e-mails concerning those days. I have had several extracts of experiences published by the Best of Britain magazine.
