Contact the Elderly is a free voluntary service that offers
friendship and a monthly outing to lonely elderly people.
Our
volunteers enjoy taking elderly people to monthly group meetings
for a few sandwiches, cakes, talk and companionship - so simple, yet
it can change lives and create great new friendships across the generations.
Contact
the Elderly helps over 3000 people through 240 groups throughout the
UK.
Please
help us create more groups by volunteering to be a:
Driver
- if you have use of your own car and can spare a Sunday afternoon
once a month to collect the elderly guests and join them for tea.
Host
- if you are willing to invite a group to your home for a few
snadwiches, cakes and cups of tea just once, or twice, a year. Since
many of our guests have difficulty with stairs, a downstairs toilet
is essential.
Group
members are well into their 70s, live alone and are often unable to
get out on their own. In many cases they have no relatives nearby
and rarely receive visitors.
